Will
permanent makeup hurt?

The client may experience some discomfort, the Dermagraphic
technician uses topical anesthetics. The probe used for insertion
of pigment penetrates the dermis only half as deep as electrolysis.
How long
does the procedure take?

A procedure usually takes one hour and is designed
to be applied in stages. Due to the subtlety of the implants, the
patient receives basic shape and color on the first visit - Saturation.

The second visit, four weeks later, is where the detail
is completed. The second visit is called the Focus visit.
How will I know I will be happy with the outcome and be sure it looks like
my own makeup application?

The patient works along with the practitioner in a
step-by-step method, allowing her to determine is she wants to stop
prematurely or deposit more in each procedure.
What
is involved in a consultation?

A consultation covers the entire procedure through
post op, the patient's questions and concerns, and a medical health
history.

A scratch test is performed and a photographic portfolio
is available to view past procedures.
What permanent
makeup procedures are there to choose from?
- There are seven basic procedures to choose from. Eyebrows, eyeliner/
eyelash enhancement, lip liner, full lip color, beauty marks, areola
and camouflage.
Can lips, brows,
and eyeliner all be done in the same day?
Are the procedures
painful?
- Everyone is different in pain tolerance and sensitivity. Some people
experience mild discomfort during the procedure. Topical numbing lotion
is applied prior to the procedure and topical numbing gel continuously
to the surface site throughout the service.
Can I have permanent
makeup done if I have diabetes?
- Yes, but it is always wise to notify your doctor.
How can permanent
makeup improve my eyebrows?
- Eyebrows are the most important feature of the face and can give the
entire look a lift. There are a number of things that can be improved,
half of brow, nicer arch, no arch, droopy, uneven, too small, too thin,
very, sparse, too short, no brows, starts too far back, outer part needs
lifting.
If I don't have
any brow hair, will permanent makeup still look good on me?
- Yes and they can be created and beautifully designed. First they are
drawn on so that they flow with the facial features of the client (with
help from the client) and the brows are built one implant at a time.
Who determines the
colors used?
- The client and practitioner discuss and decide on pigment during the
consultation.
How is the permanent
makeup applied?
- Tiny microns of pigment are inserted into the dermal layer of the
skin with a sterile needle.
What is in pigment?
- Most pigments consist of water, alcohol, glycerin, and iron oxide.
Is permanent makeup
really permanent?
- Permanent makeup never disappears but will lighten with time. For
example a soft blonde or platinum eyebrow will lighten faster than a
brunette brow. A touch up may be nessisary in 2 to 5 years. When choosing
colors your technician should be able to give you an approximate time
frame between touch ups.
Will it look natural?
- There are as many different ways to apply permanent makeup as there
are people wearing it. Each individual has his or her perception of
natural or dramatic. Permanent makeup should enhance your own beauty.
Consultations are a must for the client considering any permanent procedure;
ask to see before and after pictures. Established Derma -Technicians
will have photographs or portfolios for you to see.
How are colors selected?
- Custom pigments are blended for each client according to their skin
tone, eye color and hair then applied topically for approval.
What about recovery?
- In most cases there will be slight swelling and redness of the skin.
You resume normal activities immediately.
How will adding
lip liner or filling in the lips change or enhance my lips?
There are many ways permanent makeup can enhance the lips. Some include:
- Making the lips look fuller, smaller, enhancing the shape of the
bow (middle of the top lip)
- Making a bow where there hasn't been one
- Balancing the top and bottom lip
- Correcting uneven lips
Can I
wear different lipstick colors over my permanent lip color?
- No problem! Any lipstick can be applied over your permanent color
for a change. When your lipstick wears off you will still have color
to your lips.
How can
I benefit from permanent eyeliner/eyelash enhancement?
There are many ways you will benefit through different techniques and
applications. Some of the ways it will enhance and accentuate your eyes
natural beauty are:
- Enhancement your eyelashes and make them appear thicker
- Eliminate washed out look
- Eliminate the smudged look you get from makeup
- Enhance the color of your eyes by framing them
- Save you time and money
Is there any
risk in loosing my eyelashes from having permanent eyeliner applied?
- No, the only way eyelashes are lost permanently is through electrolysis
(a technique used to destroy the hair follicle with an electric current).
Will I still
be able to have cosmetic surgery (blepharoplasty, eye job) in the future?
- Lifts and blepharoplasty are not a problem; permanent makeup is common
in the plastic surgery world.
Is maintenance
required?
- Permanent eyeliner will lighten with time. You may possibly need a
retouch to freshen your look in three to five years.
