GAZE
INTO MY EYES…
Recording artists croon and poets write about them.
Eyes are dominant in the expression of love, flash in anger, or
sparkle with happiness. The periorbital area (delicate tissue around
the eye) is the first to show signs of aging. The continuous muscular
activity involved with blinking, squinting and smiling takes its
toll over the years on the most fragile tissue found on the body.
As the area breaks down the upper eyelids and eyebrows loose elasticity
causing a drooping effect. Dark circles can be hereditary and are
the result of dark pigment and dilated blood vessels near the skins
surface. Other factor include environmental aging from excessive
sun exposure, pollutants, smoking and alcohol, genetics, and hormones.
Gravity is not our friend! Combine all the factors and you have
the answer to aging skin. Sixty is the new fifty! People are looking
better and living longer. There are immediate changes you can make
to help this delicate area:
- Limit alcohol consumption, excessive drinking causes dehydration.
- Drink plenty of water; it will help maintain the skins elasticity!
- Get the rest you need fatigue accentuates wrinkles, dark circles
and puffiness.
- Always wear sunscreen to protect skin and permanent makeup
from fading.
- Don't smoke and avoid second hand smoke, nicotine constricts
blood vessels.
- Only wear UV rated sunglasses to ease squinting and to protect
against UV damage daily.
- Avoid tugging when removing makeup or contact lenses
- Use a daily eye care regimen.
Thin drooping brows can look sad or fatigued. Properly
placed natural looking permanent eyebrows can give the illusion
of a lift, framing the eyes. Botox is another option for a four
to six month lift. The difference is amazing.
For drooping eyes there is blepharoplasty. This is a simple procedure
with the plastic surgeon removing excess skin and fat from the eye
area. Incisions are made in the crease of the eyelid, removing the
excess crepy skin resulting in a taut upper eyelid. Under the eye
an incision is made just below the lash line with the fat and excess
skin removed. When the scars heal they are nearly invisible. Permanent
eyeliner is often a beautiful finishing touch and enhancement to blepharoplasty.
Various applications can simulate eyelashes making them appear dark
and lush. For hollowed out eyes there are fat
injections.
Try a permanent makeup beauty mark! Small changes
can deliver drastic results.
